How to store and protect your Pokémon cards

Sleeves, top-loaders, binders, and humidity control. Learn how to keep your collection pristine in the humid Swiss summer.

Protecting your cards in Switzerland isn't just about putting them in a sleeve—it's about managing our distinct seasonal changes.

The Essentials: - Penny Sleeves: The absolute minimum. Never put a raw card inside a binder or a top-loader. Always use a soft penny sleeve first. - Top-Loaders: Excellent for any card worth over CHF 10. They prevent bending and edge wear. - Ringless Binders: Avoid older 3-ring binders as the metal rings can 'bite' into the cards closest to the spine. Use side-loading, ringless portfolios instead.

Humidity & Temperature: Swiss summers can be surprisingly humid, which leads to foil curling (often called "pringing"). To combat this, we highly recommend storing your higher-end binders or boxes in a cool, dark room (like a finished basement) and using silica gel packets to absorb excess ambient moisture.
